5 Films To Fall In Love With
With Valentines Day Fast approaching, restaurant bookings are being frantically made but what do you do if love isn’t in your life this time of year? Just to make sure you are feeling wholesome this February we have been through the archives and chosen 5 films to fall in love with.
If you want to know the meaning of true love then this is the film for you. The Notebook is every girls favourite; A 1940’s love story of a young couple played by Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. It’s so good it’s cheesy but there could be genuine love like this out there.
Best Quote: “ I think part of the reason why we hold onto something so tight is because we fear something so great won’t happen twice.”
Adam Sandler has been a staple of good films throughout all of our childhood and 50 First dates is yet another, that does not disappoint. From Playboy to loyal boyfriend, Henry Roth (Sandler) falls in love with the girl of his dreams, but as always, nothing can be perfect as she has short-term memory loss they embark on reliving their first date over and over again.
Best Quote: “I prefer sausage to taco.”
This one is hand-picked for the Comic Con lovers out there. Caught up in a messy web Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) always seems to have a problem on his hands. With the Police, media, fellow superheroes and what seems to be half the work hating on Spider-Man, it's probably a good thing he finds some affection in his relationship with Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone).
Best Quote: “You’re Spider-Man, and I love that. But I love Peter Parker more.”
If there is a film to prove you don’t have to look like Prince Charming to fall in love with a princess, Shrek is the film for you. Alongside Toy Story, Shrek is a shining light in the world on animation film and the humour, love story and bonkers fantasy will leave you feeling all of your emotions on valentine's night. Shrek (Mike Myers) and Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) take on the evil Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow) They are joined on their quest by Donkey (Eddie Murphy) who is the annoying, caring best friend everyone wants.
Best Quote: “Ogres are like onions. Ogres have layers, onions have layers..”
We strongly advise you have at least 2 boxes of tissues ready for this classic sob story. Winning 11 Oscars, and a cast lead by the Leonardo DiCaprio (Jack) and Kate Winslet (Rose) it is amazing what can happen on a cruise ship travelling from Southampton to New York. WARNING: Bring your life jacket.
Best Quote: Jack: “This is crazy” Rose: “I Know, it doesn’t make any sense. That’s why I trust it.”
We wouldn’t advise watching all of these on your own. It’s probably best you call your bestie and get the blanket ready, as all of these films will have you looking for love again.
