Its Official Its Office Yoga

Ever wondered why your colleague takes so long visiting the toilet…. Well they are most likely doing office yoga! Your working profession and lifestyle often dictates the finite amount of time we have available to us in the week so instead or trying to find more time for the things you want to do why not maximise the space and environment you are already in on a day to day basis! Small interjections throughout the day whilst sitting at your desk will have the same long term effects as dedicating a specific hour to the practise at the start or the end of the day and offers a break from the work routine you are used to. Office yoga is the new tea break so here are a few sit down poses to get you started.

Seated Crescent Moon Pose - reach up with one arm only at a time and bow your body (left if right hand up and vice versa) to stretch the whole side of your upper body. Hold this pose for 15 - 20 seconds then alternate sides.

Wrist and Finger Stretches - stretch one out in front of you with your wrist up and fingers titled down towards the floor. With your other hand pull back gently on your inverted hand and gradually increase the stretch.

The Twist - whilst sitting place your knees together and keep fixed pointing in front of you. Twist your upper body to a 90 degree angle with knees still fixed in same place and hold pose for 15 - 20 seconds.

Ankle to knee - sitting down with a Straight back, lift one leg and place your ankle on top of your knee. Lean forward slowly with your hand placed on the raised knee and feel the stretch. Hold for 15 - 20 seconds.

Think of your body like a deflating balloon whilst sitting still at your desk. Pump yourself up and energise with these simple stretches and feel fresher and more focused.
